Generic Cialis in the Treatment of Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia

Dr. Halverson, D.O., FAAFP

A wide range of consumers know a medicine like Cialis primarily as a means to restore potency, that is, to combat the symptoms of erectile dysfunction. However, few people pay attention to the fact that Cialis and its generics are the only drugs from the category of PDE-5 inhibitors that are officially recommended for use in the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), also known as prostate adenoma. Meanwhile, according to various estimates, from 70% to 85% of all cases of impotence in men over 55 years of age are directly related to the development of BPH. Accordingly, men who have BPH cannot resort to other drugs from the category of PDE-5 inhibitors to improve the quality of their sexual life, and the only solution for them, and a comprehensive one, is to take Cialis or its generics.

Branded Cialis was approved by the FDA as a treatment for erectile dysfunction back in 2003, but it was only in 2012 that it received approval as a drug for the treatment of BPH, both as monotherapy and in combination with other medications. A distinctive feature of taking Tadalafil for prostate adenoma is the recommended treatment regimen: daily at a dosage of 5 mg, and in the presence of concomitant diseases of the cardiovascular system, the dosage is sometimes reduced to 2.5 mg.

Numerous generics of Cialis, which appeared on the global pharmaceutical market in 2018, are in no way inferior in their properties to the original drug, while being many times cheaper. The latter factor makes available generics especially popular among those patients who take Cialis as part of the treatment of potency disorders associated with BPH. This condition not only requires daily medication, it, as a rule, is also more than long-term - from several months to 2-3 years. Consequently, this hits the pocket very hard, and even quite wealthy men often cannot afford to regularly take the original Cialis, let alone those who are retired or cannot boast of a high level of income. In this case, buying cheap generic Cialis is the best way out of the situation, which will allow the patient not worsen the problem and not go broke.

The therapeutic effect of Cialis and its generics in the treatment of BPH is achieved by activating blood circulation in the genital area, which prevents the development of congestion in the prostate gland. After several weeks of use, patients note a decrease in the severity of lower urinary tract symptoms, such as frequent and painful urination, frequent urge to urinate at night, and a feeling of incomplete emptying of the bladder. Cialis helps reduce the volume of the prostate gland and improve sexual function.

Side effects such as headache, nasal congestion, redness of the skin of the face and neck, dizziness, back pain are quite mild, since the dosage of the drug is very small. In addition, they decrease, and after one to two weeks of taking the medication, they often disappear almost completely.
